Children’s counselors provide free, confidential, and trauma-informed support, advocacy, and accompaniment services to any child who has witnessed or experienced sexual or domestic violence. Children can be seen in schools, at the WRC offices, or a safe and appropriate third-party location. In an effort to accommodate clients with limited options for transportation, work with each family to create a safe and therapeutic environment and a schedule that accommodates busy school and work schedules. Child counseling and advocacy services may include: Individualized and age-appropriate supportive counseling sessions focused on developing skills in comping, conflict resolution, self-esteem, and building healthy relationships Advocacy, accompaniment, and support as needed during the court process Crisis intervention & safety-planning to help children feel safer at home, at school, and in the community Supportive services and referrals for non-offending family members
