The Randolph College Nursery School, located on Randolph's campus, offers a preschool curriculum open to ages 3-5.

HCPS preschool students gain literacy and other skills using a developmentally appropriate, hands-on curriculum, including a focus on phonemic awareness; language enrichment; letters and sounds; decoding and beginning reading and writing; numeracy with a focus on numbers and number sense; and social and emotional development.

Bedford County offers a variety of preschool opportunities. These programs receive funds from the local, state, and federal levels. Programs are contingent upon funding & program locations are subject to change. Eligibility to participate is based on state and federal guidelines. Enrollment begins with children who are most eligible based on the application process.

Nelson County VPI (& MACAA) HeadStart PRE-K applications are available for download. Please see the box entitled " Pre-K Applications" on the website. There is an English and Spanish version. ELC provides an enriching environment, with special emphasis on social-emotional development along with an evidence-based curriculum to ensure that children are prepared to learn when they enter Kindergarten.

The Virginia Preschool Initiative provides preschool education, health services, family engagement, facilitation of comprehensive services including health, mental health and nutrition education for preschool children and their families.

Preschool classes are offered for 2 year olds, 3 year olds, and 4 year olds. Provide Monday through Friday classes for all age groups. In addition, a Tuesday/Thursday class is offered for 2 year olds and a Monday/Wednesday/Friday class for 3 year olds. We offer two sessions of programming: the school year (September - June) and summer camp (June - August) After school care is offered for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade who attend Chittum Elementary, Western Branch Primary, and Western Branch Intermediate. Public school Kindergarten care is available before school (7:00-7:30 am) and after school (2:45-6:00 pm). Kindergarten care is not available during public school hours.

RHCDC offers Preschool for children ages three through Pre-K and After-School Care, Summer Camp and Drop-In Care programs for school age students in the cities of Roanoke and Salem, Roanoke County and local private schools. Small class and group sizes allow staff to spend more individualized time with students.

ACPS offers preschool to qualifying families through the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI). The purpose of VPI is to provide quality early childhood programs for at-risk children who are residents of Alexandria City and unserved by Head Start program funding.
