Respite care is an in-home service for families living with/caring for a frail older adult and residing in Virginia Beach.

A center and community based program for people with intellectual disabilities that serves ages 12 years through adulthood. Provides supports, as identified in Individual Support Plans, to increase socialization, adaptive skills, communication, and more through the use of community resources (field trips, volunteer opportunities, etc) and center-based activities (arts and crafts, personal hygiene education, horticulture, etc.).

Serves adult women with primary diagnosis of Intellectual Disability (diagnosis must be documented as originating prior to age 18). Services offered include: 1) Residential Care with awake/overnight staff in a home-like environment; 2) In-Home/Supported Living Care; and 3) Short-term Respite Care. Applicants must have source of funding, i.e. ID Medicaid Waiver, private pay funds. Provide care, assistance and supervision to individuals in their own homes. These services are supplemental to the care provided by a primary caregiver or they may support an individual whose level of independence does not require a primary care provider. Each resident has a plan of care outlining support needs. This plan outlines specific outcomes expressed by the individual or evaluated as an area of need/challenge. The plan is used to help each individual progressively strengthen his/her own individual knowledge, skills and independence.

Day Support Program for adults who are intellectually disabled, 18 years of age or older. Work on different skills based on the individual's level of functioning. Focus on community integration, social and community skills.

Northern Virginia Nurses and Caregivers provide home health and support services.

Provides temporary respite care.

Provides the at home caregiver of an eligible patient time off from his/her duties. The program helps to maintain the health and well-being of the patient and the caregiver. This respite program can provide up to 720 hours per year for qualified patients in the Medicaid program. Provides caregivers with relief from care giving duties in an effort to maintain a quality life, independence, and the prevention of premature institutionalization. These duties include meal preparation, shopping assistance, light housekeeping and supervision. There are also Support Group Meetings provided for caregivers. This program helps to maintain the health and well being of the patient and the caregiver.

Weekday enrichment and engagement for adults living with abilities and or dementia in Charlottesville and Louisa. Individuals outside of these areas can also become members. The JREC program provides activities, healthy lunch, intergenerational connections, caregiver support, and health/medication management.

Serves senior citizens through programs and services enabling the individual to remain independent and productive. Also participates with the Hampton Roads chapter Alzheimer's Association for subsidized in-home respite care. Agency provides in home care, care coordination, transportation, congregate and home delivered meals.

Provides short term, periodic care for the residents in the absence of their families or other care providers. The respite facility is typically used for traditional respite purposes, i.e. giving families a break or respite from caring for the family member with an intellectual disability; however, it may be used for short-term emergency placement also.

A 135-bed nursing home facility for skilled nursing care. Offers inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapy. Provides respite care. Comprehensive medical care includes IV therapy, wound care, extensive medical care, terminal and palliative care, and pain management.

Provides respite care for children and young adults nine years and older who have special needs for support and supervision as a result of their mental retardation diagnosis. The family must coordinate transportation arrangements via school or private transportation services.

Claude Moore Precious Time (CMPT) is a pediatric respite care program for families who have children with special needs. In partnership with James Madison University nursing students, CMPT provides a break for caregivers free of charge. CMPT works with families who live within a one hour drive (one way) from JMU. Through CMPT, JMU nursing students travel to family homes and provide respite care as part of a student learning experience. .

An intermediate nursing care facility. Provides physical and speech therapy. Will take dementia patients on a case by case basis. Offers respite care.
