The Learn to Swim program offered at both the Downtown and Jamerson YMCA prepares children for swimming and learning basic safety and swimming techniques. The program also builds self confidence. There are also components designed to develop the whole person through five specific components of personal safety, stroke development, water sports, and games, personal growth, and rescue. The Silver Sneakers program entitles people with supplemental health insurance to receive a free YMCA membership. Included in the membership is access to special Silver Sneakers classes offered four days per week. The classes are taught mostly sitting in a chair and focus on building range of motion and strength required for activities of daily living. In addition to the classes, we do senior socials and field trips throughout the year.

The goal of the class is to increase strength, balance and mobility for older adults. Classes meet weekly for 8 weeks.
